Splashup Light is a basic photo editor for Windows. The more advanced editor is Splashup, but Splashup Light is pretty darn good for the basic tasks that one is faced with day in and day out. This is also an Adobe Air application, so you can use it on Windows, Mac or any compatible operative system. Splashup Light's graphical user interface is really simple, and it allows you to use the application without going to menus. You can open, edit and save a picture without going outside the main window. Being a "light" version, many of the features that are found in suites like Photoshop are not found, but the basic tools are all there. For example, I often have to fire Photoshop up to recompress an image. It is not the easiest way to do it, but I know it works and the application is there anyway. Photoshop takes ages to load even on a fast computer. On the other hand, Splashup Light can open an image file in less than 5 seconds and you can save it to JPG with compression in seconds, too. You can also add text to images, crop them, add certain effects, resize it, etc. You can also use your webcam to input images directly into the application, which I had not seen before. All in all, this is a little helpful application that loads fast and works really well.
